Windows Phone 7 Now Official - Pre-order your HTC HD7 Today!

On Monday October 11th, Microsoft officially unveiled Windows Phone 7 (WP7), the all new Operating System that will be replacing the rather awful Windows Mobile 6.5 which was somewhat of a disaster for Microsoft. It has however been promised that WP7 will be a completely different experience to Windows of old and from what we know it doesn’t look set to dissappoint.

The most discernible difference to WP7, is it’s looks and layout. WinMo devices of old were dull, clunky and almost painful to use, but the homescreen for WP7 is clear and simple to use with designated blocks or areas of the screen corresponding to different applications or widets. The fresh look is a little bit love or hate and any die hard WinMo fans will probably hate it; but that is the exact reason neccessitating the change, WinMo fans have been converting to the little green Android in droves. That and the fact that the last decent WinMo touting handset to grace the market was the HTC HD2 way back in November last year.

So what can you expect from this new breed of Windows Phone then? Well, you’ve only got to look back through the last couple of months posts to see a deluge of ‘leaked’ Windows Phone 7 handsets from all of the major manufacturers but on release day, we were treated to an official look at the following:

The headline act if you like, is the HTC HD7, which as you can probably guess is the Windows Phone 7 touting Desire HD. The good news about the HD7, is that it’s already available to pre-order, right now. So be sure to Click Here and order yours to avoid dissapointment come the 25th October.

Following the HD7, there’s also the HTC 7 Mozart, Trophy and Pro with the Trophy being the ‘entry level’ HTC Device touting a 1GHz processor, 5 megapixel camera and a 3.8 inch screen; essentially the same specs as the current Desire, which hardly deserve the ‘entry level’ moniker. The Mozart is the phone for you if you’re looking for a bigger camera; touting an 8 megapixel camera, Dolby Mobile, SRS, 8GB internal storage and a 3.7 inch screen. Finally, the Pro is essentially the Desire Z for Windows Phone 7, touting a slide out QWERTY keyboard for die hard QWERTY fans.

From Samsung, we have the Omnia 7, touting a 4 inch Super AMOLED screen, 1GHz processor, 5 megapixel camera, and an LED flash. And finally from LG, not wanting to break the trend, we have the LG Optimus 7, with a 3.5? WVGA touchscreen, 5 megapixel camera and 16GB of internal storage.
